Welcome to Whitman County

Whitman County is home to some of the richest soil in the nation, a wealth of talent and innovative research originating from Washington State University in Pullman and a thriving manufacturing industry that has become an engine of growth for the regional economy. Its signature rolling hills are as productive as they are picturesque. The County produces more barley, wheat, dry peas and lentils than any other county in the United States. Three inland ports along the lower Snake River export the region’s grain and other agricultural products to international markets beyond. The presence of fiber-to-the-home networks in several rural communities and proximity to the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport allow entrepreneurs to enjoy a small-town quality of life while competing internationally.
